New to JJK and not sure where to start — or deep in the story and trying to find exactly which volume covers Gojo vs Sukuna? This is the complete Jujutsu Kaisen manga reading order: every arc, every volume, and where to buy them on Amazon. No filler, no confusion.
Quick Answer: Where to Start JJK

Start at Volume 1. Jujutsu Kaisen has no filler arcs and no spin-off required reading — the main series runs cleanly from Volume 1 through the final Volume 27. If you've seen the anime and want to jump ahead, use the arc guide below to find your entry point by volume number.

Every JJK Arc by Volume
Here's the complete arc breakdown, from the beginning through the final chapter.
1. Cursed Child Arc — Volumes 1–2
Yuji Itadori swallows Sukuna's finger to save classmates and is sentenced to death by the jujutsu world — then recruited by Gojo Satoru to eat all 20 fingers before being executed. This is the premise-setting arc and the fastest read in the series.
2. Goodwill Event Arc — Volumes 3–8
The first major arc. Two Tokyo and Kyoto schools compete in a "friendly" tournament that gets crashed by curse users hunting Yuji. Introduces Nanami, Todo, and most of the Kyoto cast. The Yuji vs Todo fight in Vol. 8 is one of the best in the early series.
3. Shibuya Incident Arc — Volumes 8–16

The series' turning point. Pseudo-Geto and Mahito trap Gojo in the Prison Realm, Yuji loses control, and the jujutsu world collapses. Brutal, relentless, and where the series permanently shifts tone. Do not skip to this arc — the emotional weight requires everything that came before.
- JJK Box Set Vols. 1–16 — covers the complete setup through Shibuya
4. Culling Game Arc — Volumes 16–22
After Shibuya, Yuji and Megumi enter a deadly battle royale engineered by Kenjaku to awaken sorcerers across Japan. Introduces Hana Kurusu (Angel), Hajime Kashimo, and Charles. Slower pacing than Shibuya but sets up the final arc.
5. Shinjuku Showdown Arc — Volumes 22–27 (The Final Arc)
This is it. Gojo is released from the Prison Realm and immediately faces Sukuna (now fully merged into Megumi's body). The Gojo vs Sukuna fight runs through chapters 221–236 — volumes 25–28 — and is the peak of the series technically and emotionally. The aftermath then resolves every remaining thread through the final chapter.
- Volume 25 — Gojo vs Sukuna begins
- Volume 26 — the fight continues
- Volume 27 — resolution and final chapters · alt edition
- Volume 28 — series finale
Which Volume Is the Gojo vs Sukuna Fight?

The Gojo vs Sukuna fight is in volumes 25–28, covering chapters 221–236. Specifically:
- Chapter 221 — Gojo is unsealed from the Prison Realm. Vol. 25.
- Chapters 221–236 — the complete fight across volumes 25–28.
- Chapter 236 — the fight ends. This is the chapter most fans remember. Vol. 27–28 depending on edition.
If you've watched the anime through Season 2 and want to jump into the manga at the fight: start at Volume 25. You'll need the context from Shibuya Incident (Vol. 8–16) to fully understand the stakes, but Vol. 25 drops you into the action immediately.
How Many Volumes Is JJK Total?
Jujutsu Kaisen completed with 27 volumes in the original Japanese release. The English translation (VIZ Media) is releasing on a slight delay — as of June 2026, volumes through 27 are available in English.
Should You Read JJK 0?
Jujutsu Kaisen Vol. 0 is a prequel one-shot about Yuta Okkotsu — it was written before the main series and is not required reading to understand the story. That said, it's genuinely excellent and sets up Yuta's character for the Culling Game arc. Read it anytime after Vol. 1 or right before Vol. 16 when Yuta reappears.
